Mike Tomkies was an acclaimed naturalist, writer and Hollywood film journalist who lived for 35 years in remote and wild places in the Scottish Highlands, Canada and Spain. In 1988 he was made an Honorary Fellow of the Royal Zoological Society of Scotland.

mr tomkies manages write about the natural world in a very matter of fact manner, yet still captures the intricate magic and majesty of what seems fo be the most straight forward or small subject matter, here for example, wild cats.
